ECCO Shoes, Bredebro, Denmark
At Ecco shoes there was a problem with the indoor climate in one of the production areas because the room temperature could not be controlled. The problem was partly caused by a centrally mounted “carousel” where shoe components where glued and heat cured. In the wintertime the carousel proved a considerable heat source for the room, but in the summertime it made the room temperature much too high. In an attempt to alleviate the problem external air was being introduced but this was causing a draught.
Ecco Shoes decided to move the carousel to another area, which then created a need for additional wintertime heating in the affected room. In addition to all of this it was a central requirement that the velocities be reduced in the occupied zone at all times of the year.
The solution was a AirSox inject type system. The number of and the placement of the diffuser perforations are calculated specifically for each project, so it is possible to achieve a low air velocity, avoid draught and have a constant room temperature. A survey made after the installation has shown that the calculations done at the design stage were very accurate and that the employees at Ecco Shoes were very satisfied with the solution.
